MG Motors is set to make a big splash in the Indian EV market with the MG 4 electric hatchback. Likely to be launched by December 2025, this premium electric car is expected to bring international styling and a long range. MG 4 has already made headlines in Europe and could be an affordable choice for Indian EV buyers looking for a balance of design, performance and features.
A Look Under the Hood – MG 4 EV’s Motor and Performance
The MG 4 EV is expected to come with two powertrain options. The standard version will get a 125 kW motor producing 170 bhp, while a performance variant could offer up to 150 kW with 203 bhp. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph takes just under 8 seconds in the base variant, which means it will be quite quick on urban roads. The car is built on MG’s modular scalable platform that supports rear-wheel drive, giving it better control and handling than front-wheel setups.
Driving Range and Charging Capabilities
In terms of mileage, MG 4 will offer two battery options – 51 kWh and 64 kWh. The smaller battery is expected to offer around 350 km on a single charge, while the larger battery could stretch that to over 450 km. Fast charging support will be available, and MG claims the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in under 40 minutes using a 150 kW DC fast charger.
Features, Design and Cabin Experience
The MG 4 comes with a sporty design, sharp LED headlamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, and a distinctive rear light bar. Inside, the car will have a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and ADAS Level 2 features. It will also get multiple drive modes, 360-degree camera, and connected car tech. The rear seat and boot space are expected to offer practical room for urban families.
Expected Price and India Launch Details
The MG 4 EV is expected to be priced between ₹25 lakh to ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant. MG may locally assemble it to keep the price competitive. Bookings are expected to begin by October 2025, with deliveries starting soon after the December launch.
