Samsung May Unveil Its First Triple-Fold Smartphone Alongside Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 on July 9

Samsung is gearing up for a major unveiling at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9. While the spotlight is expected to be on the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, industry buzz suggests the South Korean tech giant might also lift the curtain on its first-ever triple-fold smartphone, possibly named the Galaxy G Fold.

If true, this marks a bold step in Samsung’s evolution of foldable devices, pushing beyond the traditional dual-fold design. The device is expected to debut at the event but may hit the shelves a few months later, initially in select markets.

What We Know So Far About the Triple-Fold

While Samsung has remained tight-lipped on the details, leaks from tipster Instant Digital on China’s Weibo platform indicate that the company has been working on a tri-fold prototype. Unlike standard foldables, the Galaxy G Fold would open out in three parts, resembling a tablet-sized screen when fully unfolded.

Insiders also hint that this advanced device could feature a silicon-carbon battery, known for delivering better performance and longevity compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries.

Initially, availability is expected to be restricted to South Korea and China, with limited production planned. This suggests Samsung could be testing the waters before a wider global rollout. Pricing is likely to fall between $3,000 to $3,500 (approximately ₹2.56 lakh to ₹2.99 lakh), placing it in the ultra-premium category.

Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Watch 8 Also Expected

Apart from the triple-fold, Samsung’s much-anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are also set to make their debut at the same event. The Galaxy Watch 8 series is expected to join the launch lineup as well, as Samsung continues to expand its ecosystem of connected devices.

Pre-bookings for these foldables have already begun in India. Interested buyers can reserve their units by paying ₹2,000 through Samsung’s official website, Amazon, Flipkart, Samsung Exclusive Stores, or select retail outlets.

Customers who pre-book will be eligible for benefits worth up to ₹5,999, along with early delivery privileges.

Foldables: A Rapidly Expanding Market

Samsung has been a pioneer in the foldable segment, commanding a dominant market share globally. The company’s innovation roadmap continues to push boundaries, and the introduction of a triple-fold design could further cement its leadership.

Meanwhile, rival brands like Huawei have already experimented in this space. Huawei’s Mate X Ultimate, the world’s first commercially announced tri-fold smartphone, debuted last year and became available globally earlier in 2024.

As consumer interest in foldable technology accelerates, Samsung’s entry into the tri-fold arena is a clear signal that the future of smartphones is not just flexible — it’s foldable in more ways than one.
