The monsoon has finally arrived in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, offering much-needed respite from the sweltering summer heat. Since late last night, several areas across the state have been experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall, with waterlogging reported in districts like Moradabad, Amroha, Sambhal, and Rampur. The downpour has also caused inconvenience for commuters, but the relief it brought from the rising temperatures is undeniable.
Meanwhile, Delhi NCR too woke up to cloudy skies and refreshing showers, further easing the heatwave-like conditions that had gripped the region. In Eastern Uttar Pradesh, scattered rainfall continues to cool the air, although the skies remain overcast in most areas.
However, for farmers dealing with drying sugarcane and paddy fields, the rain couldn’t have come at a better time.
Heavy Rain Warning Issued for These Districts
According to the latest forecast from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), several districts in Uttar Pradesh are under a yellow alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning from July 1 to July 5.
Districts likely to experience heavy rainfall include:
-
Kanpur, Etawah, Mathura-Vrindavan, Bilaspur – Rain expected over the next five days
-
Bhadohi, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad – Thunderstorms and lightning forecast
-
Noida, Aligarh, Hardoi, Varanasi – Yellow alert in place
-
Hamirpur – Humid conditions expected
-
Bareilly, Moradabad, Ayodhya, Muzaffarnagar – Heavy rain with thunder anticipated
Residents in these areas are advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions against potential flooding and lightning strikes.
Heat to Persist in These Regions
While many districts are enjoying the monsoon showers, others are still reeling under extreme heat. As per IMD, no immediate rainfall is expected in the following areas:
-
Prayagraj, Pilibhit, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Deoria, Badaun
-
Akbarpur, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Chandauli, Chhibramau, Etah
-
Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Gonda
-
Hathras, Kannauj, Mahoba, Rampur, Sitapur, Tundla, Unnao
In these districts, residents may have to wait a bit longer for relief from the heat. The delay in rainfall has left locals increasingly anxious, especially farmers, as crop conditions continue to deteriorate.
What to Expect in the Days Ahead
The monsoon is gradually strengthening across the northern plains, and experts anticipate more widespread rainfall in the coming week. Authorities have urged residents in high-alert zones to stay indoors during heavy showers, avoid waterlogged areas, and keep emergency numbers handy.
With the arrival of rain in key pockets and more predicted in the days ahead, Uttar Pradesh looks set to fully embrace the monsoon — a season both welcomed for its cooling touch and approached with caution due to its unpredictability.
