New Delhi, June 23, 2025 – In an effort to rejuvenate sales momentum, Bajaj Auto has introduced a limited-period discount of ₹5,000 on the base model of its dual-fuel motorcycle, the Bajaj Freedom. With this price revision, the entry-level variant now retails at ₹85,967 (ex-showroom), down from its original price of ₹90,976.
The offer is only applicable to the Freedom base variant, while the prices of the higher trims—Drum LED and Disc LED—remain unchanged at ₹95,981 and ₹1,10,976, respectively.
Why the Discount Now?
The Freedom, launched in July 2024, initially grabbed attention for being India’s first motorcycle to run on both CNG and petrol. It recorded healthy dispatches during the festive season, especially in October, when monthly sales crossed the 30,000-unit mark. Bajaj even celebrated crossing the 50,000-unit sales milestone by March 2025.
However, the momentum has since slowed. Monthly sales have dipped below 2,000 units from January 2025 onwards—well below the brand’s internal expectations.
Limited CNG Infrastructure a Key Hurdle
One of the biggest challenges facing the Bajaj Freedom is India’s still-developing CNG infrastructure. The bike has performed best in states with relatively better access to CNG filling stations—Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat. These regions continue to be the strongholds for the model.
With the government pushing to expand the national CNG network, Bajaj seems to be preparing the ground for a stronger second wave of adoption. The current price cut is seen as a strategic move to attract more buyers ahead of the expected rise in CNG pump coverage.
What Makes the Bajaj Freedom Stand Out?
The Freedom is powered by a 125cc air-cooled engine delivering 9.3 bhp and 9.7 Nm of peak torque, mated to a five-speed gearbox. Built on a trellis frame, it features a unique sub-frame design to accommodate a 2kg CNG tank, while a 2-litre petrol tank adds flexibility for longer rides.
Switching between fuel modes is as simple as flipping a toggle on the handlebar. In terms of efficiency, the numbers are compelling—102 km/kg on CNG and 65 km/l on petrol—making it a pocket-friendly option for daily commuters.
What’s Next for Bajaj Freedom?
With increasing fuel prices and growing interest in alternative mobility solutions, the Freedom still holds promise. If the CNG infrastructure develops as planned and Bajaj continues to roll out attractive offers, the model could witness a fresh surge in demand.
For now, customers looking for an affordable, efficient, and eco-friendly commuter bike may find the current offer too good to ignore. Just remember—it won’t last forever.
