Hyundai is preparing to launch a brand-new 7-seater hybrid SUV in the Indian market. This upcoming model is expected to be positioned above the Hyundai Alcazar and will compete with premium segment SUVs. The company is focusing on a bold new design and efficient hybrid technology to expand its upper mid-size lineup in India.
Powertrain and Engine Performance
The upcoming SUV is expected to feature a strong hybrid powertrain, which may combine a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor setup. This combination is aimed to deliver both power and fuel efficiency. Hyundai may also offer multiple driving modes including EV-only mode, hybrid mode and engine-only mode, enhancing its urban and highway usability.
Fuel Efficiency and Expected Range
With the hybrid configuration, the SUV could offer a mileage of around 20 to 23 kmpl under standard test conditions. The addition of regenerative braking and idle start-stop system will further improve fuel economy. This will make it a highly efficient choice for large families looking for lower running costs without compromising on size or performance.
Design, Dimensions and Features
The design is expected to follow Hyundai’s new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ theme with a larger grille, full-width LED DRLs and a commanding stance. The dimensions will be larger than Alcazar, offering more cabin room, especially in the third row. The SUV could get features like a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, dual-screen infotainment with connected tech, ventilated seats and a digital instrument cluster. It will likely offer both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations.
Pricing Strategy and Launch Timeline
Hyundai may price this SUV in the ₹22 lakh to ₹28 lakh range (ex-showroom). It is expected to be launched by mid or late 2025. Positioned above the Alcazar, this SUV will target buyers looking for a premium hybrid alternative to the likes of Toyota Innova Hycross and Tata Safari facelift.
