Often people like to eat fish a lot, but it is very difficult to make, so in today’s article we have brought you the recipe for Bihar’s famous mustard masala fish curry, which you can prepare very easily.

In this fish curry, you can use your favorite fish anytime. Although it is very good with room fish, you can use any type of fish in it. You can enjoy this fish curry with rice, roti, or anything.

Ingredients required to make Fish Curry :

  • Rohu or surmai fish—500 grams 
  • Turmeric powder—1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt—according to taste
  • Lemon juice—1 tablespoon
  • Mustard oil—2-3 tablespoons 
  • Mustard oil—3 tbsp
  • Onion—2(finely chopped)
  • Tomatoes—2(paste or grated)
  • Ginger-garlic paste—1tbsp
  • Green chili—1-2 (chopped)
  • Turmeric powder—1/2tsp
  • Coriander powder—1tsp
  • Red chili powder—1tsp
  • Cumin seeds—1/2tsp
  • Mustard seeds—1/2tsp
  • Kasuri methi—1tsp
  • Garam masala—1/2tsp
  • Salt—as per taste
  • Green coriander

Method of making Fish Curry:

Apply turmeric, salt, and lemon juice to the fish and marinate for 15 minutes. Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish pieces till they turn light golden on both sides. Take them out and keep them on a plate. Heat mustard oil in a deep pan; when smoke starts coming out, reduce the flame.

Sauté the gravy. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, then add chopped onions and fry till golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies; fry. Now add tomato paste and cook for 3-4 minutes. Then add turmeric, chili, coriander, and salt, and fry till the spices separate from the oil.

Add 1 cup of water and let it boil. Now add fried fish to this gravy and let it cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes. Finally, add garam masala, kasuri methi, and green coriander. Cover and cook for 5 more minutes, then turn off the gas.
