In June 2025, the Hero Splendor once again dominated India’s two-wheeler market, reaffirming its status as the nation’s favorite motorcycle. With over 2.67 lakh units sold last month alone, the Splendor outpaced all competitors, thanks to its renowned fuel efficiency of approximately 73 kilometers per liter (kmpl), reliable performance, and budget-friendly maintenance costs. Priced attractively at ₹79,276, this bike continues to be the go-to choice for millions seeking economical daily commuting options.

A Clear Market Leader Among Two-Wheelers

According to the latest data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), total two-wheeler sales in June 2025 crossed 13.2 lakh units. The commuter segment, encompassing motorcycles and scooters designed for urban mobility, remained the largest category by volume. Within this segment, the Hero Splendor’s commanding sales figures stood out distinctly.

Trailing behind the Splendor, the Hero HF Deluxe and Honda Shine secured the second and third positions, selling 97,770 and 93,975 units respectively. The Bajaj Pulsar also maintained strong appeal, especially among younger riders, with 83,715 units dispatched to dealerships.

Top Contenders in the Motorcycle Space

Other popular motorcycles rounding out the top 10 included the Hero Glamour, TVS Apache, and Hero Passion. Models such as the TVS Raider, Honda Unicorn, and Hero Xtreme 160R further underscored the continued preference for commuter motorcycles in the 100cc to 125cc range. Affordability, mileage, and dependability remain the key factors influencing buyer decisions across India’s vast and diverse market.

Scooter Segment Highlights

On the scooter front, the Honda Activa held firm as the category leader, clocking sales of 1.81 lakh units. It was followed by the TVS Jupiter with 60,398 units and Suzuki Access at 47,876 units. Models like the Hero Xoom, TVS NTorq, and Yamaha Ray ZR also recorded respectable sales, with the latter surpassing 12,000 units. However, electric scooters faced a setback this month, slipping out of the top sales lists due to recent subsidy reductions affecting consumer demand.

Growth in the Premium Motorcycle Segment

The premium motorcycle category is gradually gaining traction, led by Royal Enfield’s Classic 350, which sold over 57,000 units in June. Other Royal Enfield models such as the Meteor 350 and Hunter 350 also showed encouraging sales numbers. The Hero XPulse 200 and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 contributed with 4,234 and 3,291 units sold respectively, while KTM’s 390 series crossed the 1,000-unit mark.

Despite this upward trend in premium bikes, the majority of Indian consumers continue to prioritize affordable, fuel-efficient motorcycles for everyday use, underscoring the enduring popularity of models like the Hero Splendor in the country’s bustling two-wheeler market.
