Vietnam’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, VinFast, is all set to mark its official entry into the Indian automobile market. The company will inaugurate its state-of-the-art EV manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu on July 31, 2025, kicking off its production operations in the country.
₹4,000 Crore Investment, 1.5 Lakh Annual Capacity
VinFast is investing ₹4,000 crore over five years into the project, aiming to produce up to 1.5 lakh electric vehicles annually at full capacity. The sprawling 400-acre facility is located within the SIPCOT Industrial Park and was first announced with a groundbreaking ceremony in April 2024. In just over a year, construction is complete and production is ready to commence.
The company will begin local manufacturing of its VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs—both of which are expected to launch in the Indian market soon. These models are designed to compete with segment leaders like the Hyundai Creta EV, BYD Atto 3, and Tata Harrier EV.
