VinFast, the Vietnamese EV brand, is gearing up to enter the Indian market, and its mid-size electric SUV VF7 is already drawing attention. The SUV offers a perfect balance of sporty design and long-range capability. With an estimated range of 450 km on a single charge, it could compete directly with premium EVs once launched. Here’s what you can expect from this much-awaited electric model.
Powertrain and Performance
The VinFast VF7 is offered in two variants globally – Eco and Plus. The Eco variant is equipped with a single motor that generates 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque, while the Plus version delivers 349 bhp and 500 Nm with its dual-motor setup and all-wheel-drive system. This EV is built on a dedicated EV platform, which enhances both stability and driving dynamics.
Impressive Driving Range
VinFast claims that the VF7 can deliver a driving range of up to 450 km in its Eco variant and slightly lower in the Plus version due to increased performance. The battery pack used is advanced lithium-ion and supports fast charging. This makes it suitable for long drives as well as daily city commutes.
Dimensions and Features Package
The VF7 measures around 4.5 metres in length and gets a sharp, coupe-style SUV design. It features LED lighting all around, a connected LED DRL at the front, flush door handles, and stylish alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin comes with a large touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, ADAS features, premium upholstery, and a panoramic sunroof, depending on the variant.
Expected Pricing and Launch Timeline
VinFast is planning to enter the Indian market by 2025, and the VF7 is expected to be priced between Rs 35 to 40 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV is likely to be assembled locally to remain competitive. Once launched, it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 in the premium EV space.
